THERAPY QUESTIONS
Rooted Thread Wellness offers virtual individual therapy for women and teen girls (15+). Sessions are led by Tasha-Mae, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Doctoral Candidate in Clinical Social Work (DCSW), trained in trauma-informed care, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and attachment theory.
Rooted Thread Wellness specializes in working with women and teen girls (15+) who are navigating anxiety, stress, burnout, grief, life transitions, identity, self-worth, and relationship challenges. There is also a particular focus on the mother-daughter relationship and the unique ways that bond shapes who we become.
COACHING QUESTIONS
Mother-daughter wellness coaching is a forward-focused, goal-oriented experience designed for mothers and daughters who are ready to strengthen their bond, improve communication, and grow together. Coaching is not therapy and does not treat mental health conditions. It is built for mothers and daughters who are fundamentally okay and ready to build something better together.
Therapy is a clinical process led by a licensed professional that focuses on healing, processing trauma, and treating mental health conditions. It asks the question: what is causing pain and how do we heal? Coaching is focused on growth, goal setting, and forward movement. It asks: what do we want and how do we get there together? Both are valuable. They simply serve different needs. Visit our services page for a full side by side comparison.
No. Coaching is designed for individuals who are ready to grow, not those who are in active distress. A mental health diagnosis is not required and coaching does not treat mental health conditions.
Absolutely. Many clients find that coaching and therapy complement each other in meaningful ways. If you are currently working with another therapist, mother-daughter coaching can be a powerful addition to your existing care. Tasha-Mae is always happy to collaborate with your treatment team.
Coaching services are private pay only and are not covered by insurance. Please see our fees section or reach out directly for current coaching rates.
Mother-daughter coaching is designed for mothers and daughters who are both able to actively participate in sessions and engage in goal setting together. Please contact us to talk through whether coaching is the right fit for your specific situation.
This is one of the most common concerns we hear, and it is completely understandable. A free 15-minute consultation is a great starting point. Sometimes a single honest conversation is enough to open a door that has felt closed for a long time.
INSURANCE QUESTIONS
Rooted Thread Wellness is currently in-network or pending approval with the following insurance plans:
- CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield (Maryland, DC, and Northern Virginia) — Pending
- Aetna
- Cigna
- United Healthcare and Optum
- Humana TRICARE East — Pending
Please contact us before your first appointment to confirm current network status, as coverage information may change.
We recommend calling the member services number on the back of your insurance card before scheduling. Here are the most helpful questions to ask:
- Do I have mental health or behavioral health benefits?
- Is Rooted Thread Wellness in network with my plan?
- What is my deductible and has it been met?
- What is my copay or coinsurance for outpatient therapy?
- Do I need a referral or prior authorization?
- How many sessions are covered per year?
You may still be able to receive services using your out of network benefits. Here is how that typically works: you pay the full session rate at the time of service, Rooted Thread Wellness provides you with a superbill, and you submit that superbill directly to your insurance provider for reimbursement based on your out-of-network benefits. We recommend confirming your out of network mental health benefits before your first session.
Rooted Thread Wellness is currently in the credentialing process with Humana TRICARE East. We anticipate being in the network in the near future. Please contact us directly for the most current status and to discuss your options in the meantime.
Most commercial insurance plans do not require a referral for outpatient mental health services. When in doubt, a quick call to your insurance provider will give you a clear answer.
FEES AND PAYMENT QUESTIONS
Rooted Thread Wellness accepts major credit cards including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover, as well as HSA and FSA cards, debit cards, insurance copays, and cash.
Yes. Therapy services are HSA and FSA eligible. Coaching and wellness workshop services may not be eligible depending on your plan. We recommend checking with your plan administrator to confirm before your first session.
A superbill is an itemized receipt that includes everything your insurance provider needs to process an out of network reimbursement claim, including the service provided, date of service, diagnosis codes, and session fees. Rooted Thread Wellness will provide a superbill upon request for all private pay clients.
Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of expected charges before beginning services. Rooted Thread Wellness is committed to full transparency around fees and will provide a Good Faith Estimate to all private pay clients upon request. Healing should not come with financial surprises.
CANCELLATION AND SCHEDULING QUESTIONS
A minimum of 24 hours notice is required for all cancellations and rescheduling requests. Late cancellations and no shows may be subject to a $125 fee. This policy exists to ensure that appointment times can be offered to other clients who need support. Life happens and we understand that. Please reach out as soon as you know you need to cancel so we can do our best to work with you.
A $125 no show fee may be applied to missed appointments without 24 hours notice. If you are running late please contact us as soon as possible. We will always do our best to accommodate you within the time remaining.
